Hailing from Brooklyn NY HI-FI has involved himself in the NYC breaks scene since 2001. He was previously living in south florida were his involvement in electronic music blossomed after being introduced to florida's hard electro scene. Gradually made the leap from fan to breaks promoter in and around Ft. Lauderdale in the late 90's hosting local artists like R-Fresh and Jimi the Genius. Once stationed in New York he focused his passion and his musical influences behind the turntables spinning a mixture of electro-funk with a splash of bassline breaks. Currently leading off 2006 with a slew of dates under his belt with many more to follow, making this the year to cement HI-FI as one of NYC's leading breakbeat pioneers. |

LB3
In an effort to further the energetic sound of breakbeat, LB3, along with many other New York City breaks djs have been organizing events throughout the New York City area and beyond, to showcase their favorite aspects of breakbeat.
Currently, LB3 has arranged a monthly breaks party in Brooklyn with co-resident, Domoniquetrix. In the past, the party called NUCLEUS, has featured djs such as Hi-Fi, Wavewhore, Chill Whitey, 3L3TRONIC, and Dee Bass from Montreal. Unlike the typical four-on-the-floor, quarter-note kick drum configuration of most electronic music, breakbeat offers a syncopated, bass-heavy form, allowing listeners and dancers alike to feel a different rhythmic emphasis. It is this characteristic that yeilds more freedom in dance and appreciation. Compile these qualities with trance-like, rhythymic drop outs and blood-boiling crescendos and you arrive at the full throttle, in-your-face sound of breakbeat. Be sure to check out the site for downloads, pics of past events, and upcoming sets by LB3 and be part of the breakbeat movement!!!
